You’re All Surrounded Review

While watching the currently airing drama “Black”, I decided to look for Go Ara’s other projects. She did really well in Reply 1994 but I can’t help but get disappointed with her performances on “Hwarang” and “Black” because her acting seemed so awkward. I want to know to know why her acting is getting worse instead of improving. I don’t have enough data to make a conclusion so I’ll just go ahead and share with you my thoughts on this drama “You’re All Surrounded”.

I give this drama an 8/10. I love police procedurals so I kinda knew I would appreciate this show. It’s still a long way from being a great detective series but it’s still better than some korean dramas on the same genre.

Synopsis:
Eun Dae Gu, Oh Soo Sun, Park Tae Il and Ji Gook joined the Gangnam Violent Crimes Division as rookie detectives under legendary Team Leader Seo Pan Seok and Detective Lee as Team 3. Although at first he gave them a hard time, Team Leader Seo decided to raise them as his proteges and trained them on how to become proper detectives. Aloof and short-tempered Eun Dae Gu always treated Team Leader Seo with contempt and they later find out that it’s because of the unsolved Masan School Nurse Murder Case that Team Leader Seo handled in the past. After reopening the case, they find their lives in danger and their teamwork was put to test.

Cast:
Cha Seung Won as Seo Pan Seok
Lee Seung Gi as Eun Dae Gu/Kim Ji Yong
Go Ara as Uh Soo Sun
Ahn Jae Hyun as Park Tae Il
Park Jung Min as Ji Gook
Sung Ji Ru as Lee Eung Do

One of the things I hate are how predictable dramas are nowadays. There’s just too many dramas now and some of stories are just recycled. With “You’re All Surrounded” there were a lot of things that kept me wondering until the end like the characters’ motivations especially the antagonists. There’s one unresolved issue though but I can’t tell you because I don’t want to spoil anything.

If you ask me who gave the best performance, I would say Cha Seung Won. Not all veteran actors are talented and Cha Seung Won has definitely shown his talent and experience in this drama. Since I mentioned Go Ara earlier, I also want to say that she did well here specially at her abduction scene on the last episode. I guess it was hard for Lee Seung Gi to shine here since he’s best suited for RomComs but I say he’s one of Hallyu’s best.

If you came for romance, this is the wrong drama for you. If you came for mystery and thrill you should definitely watch this.
